Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the variety of life on earth. Biodiversity includes all living things. The value of biodiversity is very high. It is important to have biodiversity. Biodiversity helps to regulate the chemistry of the atmosphere and the water supply, it helps recycle nutrients, it provides ecological services of the world's food crop by pollination, and it has genetic variations for crops and new medicine.
Unfortunately, there are more negative impacts than positive. A few positive ways that humans have affected the temperate grasslands is that all hunting is banned. People are not allowed to hunt any animals in the temperate grasslands. National parks have been created in order to preserve the grasslands. Also, people are becoming more aware about the situation with the temperate grasslands and want to help preserve it for as long as we can. A few negative impacts are that bison and buffalos used to be hunted for their meat and their bones. This almost caused the animals to go extinct. Another negative impact is fire. Humans sometimes start fires in the temperate grasslands but its so windy and the fire can't be controlled so the fire spreads and starts to burn everything in its path. Last, the burning of fossil fuels can change the grasslands temperate and climate all together. It can cause droughts to be even worse than they normally are. One solution that helps to correct any problems in the temperate grasslands is that people are not allowed to hunt at all. There are also organizations that help to protect the biome. They help to conserve biodiversity and restore lost or damaged species in the temperate grasslands.
